Job Summary:

Assists in directing the daily work of others and performs work required to maintain efficient operation of plants and equipment in support of mining and materials production activities; operates a variety of equipment, vehicles, and tooling.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
•    Ensure team follows all safety procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions, and uses equipment/tooling properly
•    Assign work to others and monitor performance in coordination with supervisor/manager 
•    Communicate professionally with others in person, over the phone, and on company radio channels 
•    Operate heavy equipment, vehicles, and tools used in aggregate mining and production operations 
•    Assist with manual/physical tasks required in plant operation and maintenance activities
•    Monitor interactions between plant operators, drivers, and others to ensure safe operations in support of efficient materials production
•    Ensure all operators are performing pre-operational inspections of equipment and reporting mechanical/safety issues
•    Provide direction and assist with mobile equipment maintenance, including lubrication, replacing oil/fluids, fueling, cleaning, and minor repair
•    Provide direction and assist with plant/crusher equipment maintenance, repair and troubleshooting
•    Support training and mentoring related to mobile equipment, mining, and plant production operations

Education:

•    High school diploma or equivalent preferred
•    MSHA certification or ability to obtain certification required
•    Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required

Skills:

•    5 or more years of relevant experience working in mining and/or aggregate production operations
•    Mechanical skill and experience with mobile equipment and plant equipment maintenance; basic welding experience
•    Proficiency in operation of most/all industrial and heavy equipment used in the operation
•    Proficiency in operation of plant controls and equipment
•    Proficiency with mobile devices and other technology used in daily operations
•    Ability to read and interpret signage and/or written instructions (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.)
•    Ability to resolve operational and personnel issues effectively in coordination with supervisor/manager
•    Ability to work in a team environment and provide direction to others
•    Ability to interact professionally with others and clearly communicate information

Physical Requirements:

•    Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
•    Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
•    Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) 
•    Regularly required to read and understand signage, labels, and written instructions
•    Regularly required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
•    Regularly required to stand/work on feet for long periods, and walk across uneven terrain
•    Occasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock
•    Mining environment; regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, airborne particles, fuel/chemicals, loud noise, moving equipment/parts, and vibration
