Job Summary:
The asset management intern will participate in activities and projects related equipment asset management, including shop operations practices, and preventative maintenance program management for mobile and plant equipment. Position reports to the Corporate asset management team, and works collaboratively with representatives across the company.
Simon’s internship program is designed to provide first-hand exposure to industry operations, as well as 1:1 mentorship and networking opportunities to students to supplement college educational programs in the areas of business, engineering, and construction management. Students in the program have the opportunity to work in various administrative and operational areas, contribute to company goals through completion of focused project work, and apply concepts learned in the classroom to business operations.
Main Responsibilities:
• Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
• Assist with development and implementation of standard operating procedures to support quality control and efficiency, targeting attainment and maintenance of Colas 6S certification for maintenance shops across the organization
• Assist with development of organization-wide preventative maintenance program, including scheduling, and maintenance work order management, and identifying/recommending process improvement opportunities
• Assist with development and implementation of an asset catalog
• Participate in asset analysis and disposal recommendations
• Monitor and analyze equipment utilization data
Education:
• Current enrollment in a construction management, business or other relevant degree program
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain clean driving record
Skills:
• Computer skill, including use of MS Office Programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams), mobile devices, and the ability to learn new applications
• Professional communication skills, and ability to present information to individuals and groups at various levels
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to analyze reports and data, problem-solve, and make recommendations
Physical Requirements:
• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) when required
• Work performed in an office and shop environment; noise level may vary from quiet to loud
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to use hands to manipulate handle, or feel objects
• Regularly required to communicate (talk, hear, write/type)
• Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Regularly required to work on feet and walking across uneven terrain
• Regularly required to work from a seated position using a computer
• Exposure to loud noise produced by machinery and equipment and work near moving mechanical parts and fumes, chemicals, or airborne particles typical of a maintenance shop environment and/or construction work sites; some work performed outside with exposure to all types of weather
• Some travel, including overnight stays may be required
