Job Summary:
Provides administrative support for full-cycle recruiting functions, including candidate sourcing and management of applicant tracking and related systems; establishes and maintains internal and external communications platforms and provides support for employee engagement & retention programs. This position handles highly confidential information.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and outgoing individual who is excited about the prospect of taking ownership of the recruiting function and delivering measurable results through a strategic recruiting focus. Highly qualified candidates will have prior experience in a talent acquisition role as well as the ability to foster internal and external relationships and leverage marketing and technology resources to promote Simon as an employer of choice for construction professionals at all levels.
Main Responsibilities:
• Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
• Work collaboratively with others on HR team and in other departments
• Support the recruiting function by coordinating/attending recruiting events, assisting with candidate sourcing, screening/interviewing, issuing employment offer letters, tracking employee referrals, etc.
• Act as a subject matter expert for Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS) functionality; provide training/support to end-users of those systems
• Maintain data related to recruiting and engagement functions in HRIS/ATS and other electronic filing systems; participate in analysis of data and planning/implementation of related improvement strategies and initiatives
• Assist with development and implementation of internal and external communication plans to improve company branding and employee engagement
• Create compelling content for job postings, company announcements, newsletters, and social media platforms; act as subsidiary coordinator of article and content submission for Colas publications
• Assist with organization and coordination of events and programs related to recruiting and engagement (career fairs, employee appreciation, etc.)
• Respond to inquiries on various communication channels
• Assist with employee onboarding, including facilitation of new hire orientation sessions as needed
• Provide backup HR support and respond to HR-related inquiries regarding HR programs and policies as needed; direct employees to responsible HR team member or resources/information as appropriate
• Assist with ad-hoc HR projects and support other functions as assigned
Education:
• Associate degree in human resources, communications, business, or related field (and/or equivalent combination of education and experience); bachelor’s degree preferred
• SHRM, HRCI, or similar relevant certification preferred
• Valid Drivers’ License and ability to maintain clean driving record required
Skills:
• 2+ years of experience working in HR operations, recruiting, communications, or similar function preferred
• Basic knowledge of general core HR functions/principles and employment laws/regulations
• Proficiency with Microsoft/Office 365 products, including: Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
• Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms (social media, email, etc.); experience using graphic/marketing design tools (Canva, Adobe, etc.) a plus
• Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems and other recruitment software a plus
• Solid written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to craft engaging content
• Ability to present information effectively to individuals and groups
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with team members
• Ability to plan and organize work, maintain attention to detail and deliver results under pressure of set timelines
• Ability to communicate professionally and engage with diverse groups of people
• Bilingual language skills a plus (English/Spanish)
Physical Requirements:
• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
• Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms
• Regularly required to stand/work on feet for long periods
• Regularly required to sit for long periods at a desk using a computer
• Occasional site visits and exposure to loud noise, dust, heavy equipment, and machinery typical of construction and mining/manufacturing site conditions, including all-weather conditions
• Frequent travel required to attend recruiting/networking events, business meetings, training, and support business needs
