Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for procedures under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor.

Main Responsibilities

    • Perform laboratory testing procedures in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO testing standards.
    • Calculate and record test results obtained.
    • Communicate tests results to the Laboratory Director and /or Engineers.
    • Ensure equipment is calibrated and standardized according to schedule.
    • Communicate with Laboratory Director in order to maintain an adequate inventory of small equipment, chemicals, and other supplies needed in the laboratory.
    • Keep current on all safety training and follow safe work practices diligently.

Education and Qualifications

    • Associate degree in Engineering or equivalent science-orientated education.
    • Co-op or internship Field Experience in an industrial environment.


    • Knowledge of ASTM / AASHTO Soils, Aggregates, Asphalt Binders and Mixes tests methods and practices they have been trained for.
    • Quality orientation and high attention to detail.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees and the general public.
    • Frequently need to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with arms and hands.
    • Required to sit, stoop, kneel, or couch.
    • Employee must safely move and/ or lift up to 50 pounds.
