Responsibilities
- Operate weigh scales and associated scale management software
- Process cash transactions and complete daily scale house and inventory reports
- Answer phone calls and provide timely, courteous responses to public inquiries
- Track and record material quantities accurately
- Assist with purchasing activities, including preparing and managing purchase orders
- Complete time entry for Quarry personnel
- Provide general administrative support to the Supervisor
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Day In the Life
The Scales Operator supports daily quarry operations by operating weigh scales, handling cash transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing responsive customer service to the public. The position also assists with purchasing, time entry, and general administrative duties to ensure smooth and efficient site operations. The ideal candidate has at least two years of administrative or scale house experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, industrial environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an administrative, scale house, or office support role
- Knowledge of computer systems and software; experience with scale software is an asset
- Proven ability to handle cash transactions and maintain accurate records
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to respond professionally to public inquiries
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when tracking material quantities and completing reports
- Experience with purchasing processes and preparing purchase orders is an advantage
- Familiarity with time entry systems or payroll administration an asset
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining efficient administrative processes
- Comfortable working in a quarry, industrial, or outdoor‑operations environment (asset but not required)
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays as required
- Reliable means of transportation since location is not transit accessible

Targeting $22-24/hr
