Position Summary
The Regional Ready-Mix Supervisor will manage the day-to-day business and operations of our Ready-Mix plants in British Columbia and the Yukon. This position reports to the General Manager of Ready Mix, and is the liaison between customers, employees, and the company.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to oversee the operations and performance of our Ready Mix plants. This includes managing and leading a team of employees, monitoring production processes, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and coordinating with other departments and stakeholders to meet production targets and customer requirements. The Regional Ready Mix Supervisor is responsible for optimizing plant efficiency, maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
Key Accountabilities
- Business Development & Customer Relations Management: Lead and be accountable for developing & sustaining the Ready-mix business in the regions and be responsible for overall activity & Terus business results.
- Safety and Environmental Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure environmental compliance.
- Financial & Risk Management: Responsible and Accountable for P&L of the specific regions, while monitoring accounts receivable and managing payables.
- Leadership: Build and develop high performing regional teams, collaborating closely with other regions and activity teams to achieve business objectives.
- Facility Management: Inspect plant cleanliness, asset usage and compliance with Terus Standards and supervise environmental compliance.
- Operational Management: Support the regions by fostering efficient & profitable operations while reducing cost and wastage and optimizing efficiency.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Accountable for leading indicator safety metrics and overall regional safety performance.
- Implement the HSE Program, support the goals and objectives of the program, and ensure the HSE Program requirements are met in regions.
- Provide guidance, direction, and management control for accomplishing HSE goals and objectives in the region.
- Ensure a safe work environment by holding all project team members accountable to Terus-CWCI health, safety, and environment policies.
- Consult with the General Manager, Regional Safety Supervisor (and OHS Coordinator where employed), and Terus HSE Manager to determine desired HSE outcomes and the means to attain these outcomes for regions.
- Support and work with the Regional Safety Supervisor and/or OHS Coordinator in administering the HSE Program for the Area/Region and provide regular feedback for any required changes to these efforts.
- Lead by example for a culture of change with the HSE Requirements set forth by Terus, including but not limited to Toolbox Talks, Corrective Actions, and implementing a best-in-class safety culture.
Business Development and Customer Relations Management
- Monitor bid opportunities, build local customer relationships, and make sales calls to source and develop new customers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, addressing customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts, as well as in local markets, to drive sales growth and meet revenue targets.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, operations, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of concrete products and services to customers.
- Prepare and present proposals, bids, and contracts to customers, negotiating terms and pricing as needed to secure new business and renewals.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product and service improvements.
Plant Operations Management
- Develop, implement and track maintenance, production, delivery processes and strategies to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Accountable for developing and implementing efficient daily production plans.
- Accountable for operational reporting metrics and implementing best in class operational processes, tools, and technology to maximize overall performance of the ready-mix plants.
- Responsible for planning and managing resources (labor, materials, and parts & equipment etc.) to support local regional teams’ business activity objectives.
- Implementing and maintaining quality control processes to ensure that produced materials meet required specifications and adhere to industry standards.
- Ensure production issues related to quality, logistics, equipment, staffing etc. are resolved in timely and efficient manner.
- Monitoring and managing inventory levels of raw materials, additives, and finished products to ensure continuous production and minimize waste.
- Work closely with the Quality Control Supervisors to ensure optimization of mix designs and specifications are being adhered too.
- Coordinate with the Aggregate Department to ensure proper inventory management of aggregates, as well as delivery and coordination of supply.
Maintenance Management
- Coordinate with the Equipment & Shops activity for preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance for all plant and infrastructure equipment.
- Produce maintenance plans and schedules to optimize equipment performance and maximize availability, including regular communication with the shop and facilities.
- Work closely with shop supervisors to determine optimal times for production equipment repairs.
- Coordinate all major repairs with mechanics and superintendent.
- Complete regular inspections to ensure plant cleanliness and assign tasks for property upkeep.
Financial and Risk Management
- Prepare all quotes and estimates to send for approval by appropriate authority.
- Assist in accurate preparation of budgets and forecasting resulting in proper cost control and business planning.
- Prepare regular performance status reports on costs, forecasts, production data, rejects etc. to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Responsible for monitoring account receivables, payables & inventories in accordance with Terus guidelines.

- Promote a culture of collaboration within direct so that inter as well intra activity tasks are managed smoothly.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (other activities, HSE, finance, HR etc.) to ensure seamless executive of organizational goals.

The Regional Ready Mix Supervisor will be responsible in leading specific initiatives:
- Short & Medium-term talent management: Identify needs and establish initiatives to engage, retain and attract high-performing employees.
- Succession planning: Identify successors for key roles and create a defined pipeline to fill gaps based on organizational needs.
- Communicate goals, objectives, and corrective actions.
- Provide training and support to help team members grow.
- Regularly assess and address skill gaps to enhance overall team capabilities.
Experience and Knowledge Required for the Role
- Must have 5-10 years of industry experience in a supervisory position OR an equivalent combination of technical education and industry experience.
- The Ready-Mix Supervisor must have technical knowledge of concrete and equipment with the leadership skills to communicate with and motivate employees.
- Strong computer skills including knowledge of dispatcher software, MS Office.
- Experience of operating and maintaining Ready-Mix equipment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with prior supervisory experience.
- Technical knowledge of concrete production and construction methods.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage responsibilities.

Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $81,000.00–$100,000.00 CAD per year. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
