Mission

Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is looking to hire a Quality Control Technician - Aggregates based in Revelstoke, Cranbrook, or Crescent Valley, BC. 

 

This is a mobile position. As such, we are flexible on the candidate’s home location, provided they reside within British Columbia.

 

The Quality Control Technician (QCT) for Aggregate Production is a crucial component for ensuring that all aggregate materials meet the required quality standards and comply with applicable specifications. To succeed in this position, you must have a good attention to detail, multi-tasking skills, and passion to provide a quality product. This role involves conducting various testing procedures, maintaining detailed documentation, and collaborating with production teams to enhance product quality and safety. Candidates must be flexible and mobile as per the nature of the work as travelling is required.

Main Responsibilities

Testing and Inspection:

  • Perform sampling and testing of aggregate materials in accordance with ASTM standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct physical tests on aggregates, including grading, moisture content, and fractured faces.

 

Data Management:

  • Accurately record and report test results, ensuring data integrity and compliance with company protocols.
  • Maintain detailed logs of testing procedures, results, and any deviations from established standards.

 

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with production staff, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure a clear understanding of quality expectations.
  • Communicate testing results and quality concerns effectively to relevant stakeholders.

 

Problem Solving:

  • Identify any issues related to product quality and proactively propose solutions to prevent recurrence.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in a related field is a plus.
  • Prior experience in quality control, testing, or aggregate production is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to train the right candidate.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and proficiency in data analysis.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and data management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to different job sites as needed.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and overtime as required.

Compensation Data

The anticipated hourly wage range for this position is $27-33 CAD an hour. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Working Conditions

The Quality Control Technician will primarily work at mobile aggregate production facilities, throughout the Kootenay area of BC. This includes outdoor environments and field laboratories in various weather conditions. Safety gear and adherence to health and safety regulations are mandatory.
