Job Summary:
Operates a commercial truck equipped with auxiliary mixer to deliver ready-mix concrete to job sites.
Main Responsibilities:
• Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, and practice the Company’s core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
• Maneuver the truck under loading hopper to receive sand, gravel, cement, and water and starts mixer
• Slump loads to specifications/requirements
• Drive the truck to location for unloading and ensure conditions at job site are safe
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers
• Assemble chutes and attach to truck; operate controls on truck to release concrete down truck chute into wheelbarrow or other conveying container or directly into area to be poured with concrete
• Perform daily a pre and post-trip safety check on equipment and truck to assure a safe vehicle; document any maintenance that may be required
• Clean the truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening on mixer and on truck
• May operate other equipment such as loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and dump trucks
• Assist with the form/pour/strip of precast products
• May spray surfaces of truck with protective/cleaning compound to prevent adhering of concrete
• Assist work crews as required; assist with maintenance of plant and equipment
• Maintain necessary logs, timecards. and other required paperwork
Education:
• Class B CDL with Air Brakes and clean driving history
Skills:
• At least 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred
• Basic industrial truck maintenance experience preferred but not required
• Prior experience working with concrete production, construction, and/or related field preferred
• Ability to maintain a clean driving record and compliance with applicable FMCSA CDL driver requirements
• Ability to work with multiple types of individuals and interact professionally with internal and external customers
• Ability to read, write, and understand basic documents
Physical Requirements:
• Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
• Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
• Frequent exposure to loud noise
• Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
• Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
