Minimum Qualifications

  • Red Seal Mechanic in either Heavy Equipment or Truck and Trailer is mandatory
  • Class 5 driver's license
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and mechanical systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity within a mechanical or maintenance environment
  • Road side service experience
  • Experience with diagnostic software and electronic document/time keeping
  • Welding and fabrication experience

Day In The Life

We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Mechanic - Leadhand for our Dartmouth location in Nova Scotia to oversee daily shop operations while actively contributing to equipment maintenance and repair. This role involves supervising a team of mechanics, assigning tasks, providing technical guidance, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards. The Leadhand will also be responsible for organizing the operations to be carried out, observing the deadlines, using the data for the life of the facilities, orders the supplies necessary for maintenance. The Leadhand will serve as a key liaison between the shop and operations teams to coordinate priorities, streamline communication, and maintain workflow. In addition to performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on light and heavy equipment, the incumbent will also support performance evaluations, mentor apprentices, and uphold safety and compliance standards within the shop.
