The Colas Information Systems Support (ISS) team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Azure Data Warehouse Solution Architect to join our team. As a Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data solutions using Microsoft Azure technologies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define data and systems architecture, and ensure the successful delivery of scalable, secure, cost optimized, and modern solutions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with other solutions architects on the design and development of Azure Data Warehouse solutions, including data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration strategies.
  • Work with business analysts and software developers to design and implement solutions to handle the application needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Architect and implement scalable, cost effective, high-performance Azure based data warehousing solutions that meet security, compliance, and performance requirements.
  • Provide guidance and best practices to development teams for data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration patterns.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data governance and data management practices.
  • Monitor and optimize data and application performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Azure application and data technologies, trends, and best practices, and apply them to optimize solutions.

Skills/Qualifications

  • 12+ years of Software Development Experience
  • 12+ years working knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile/Waterfall)
  • 12+ years utilizing various data platforms, warehousing, OLAP, OPTP, NoSQL and Lakehouse
  • 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft database stack: SQL Server/SSIS/SSAS/SSRS
  • 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft Azure BI Stack: Delta Lake/Databricks/Spark
  • Experience with Microsoft DevOps (Source Control and CI/CD)
  • 5+ years’ experience with cloud programming languages
  • 8+ Years architecting multi-tiered applications, using  APIM, REST, SOAP, Azure Event Hubs, Event Grid,  Azure Service Bus, and Azure Functions.

Skills/Requirements

  • Solid experience with information systems and data warehouses operations management, knowledge of ITIL principles desired
  • Effective communication and training business users on software solutions
  • Must have time management skills and be able to work within allocated timeframes/schedules
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of issues, and having the determination to follow things through.
  • The ability to present and absorb complex ideas quickly and accurately
  • An ability to balance multiple time-critical tasks.

Education/Salary

  • College degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering, and or equivalent work experience.
  • Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000. Salary dependent on experience.
