ASPHALT PLANT SUPERINTENDENT | Sloan Construction, Duncan, SC

Position:          Asphalt Plant Superintendent
Job Type:        Full-Time
Reports To:     Region Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Asphalt Plant Superintendent will be responsible for asphalt production management at all facilities in the region including but not limited to the following:

• Oversee and manage all asphalt productions;
• Oversee and manage all capital improvement projects;
• Oversee and manage all subcontractors, field operations, budgets and scheduling for the site;
• Maintain all record keeping for site permits with local, state and other governing agencies;
• Maintain and monitor all incoming and outgoing inventories including fuels and liquid asphalt;
• Maintain a strong focus on reducing waste;
• Ensure that all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is completed in a safe and cost effective manner including the ordering of parts and services;
• Establish and maintain all health, safety and environmental records;
• Oversee all personnel to ensure all materials and customers are handled in a professional manner;
• Work hand-in-hand with quality control personnel; and,
• Responsible for environmental compliance including air and water quality issues.  
• Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Region Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work flexible hours;
• 3-5 years high production manufacturing experience, preferably in the construction materials industry;trong mechanical aptitude a must;
• 5 plus years proven track records of managing others; and, 
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills a must. 
• Complete commitment to company’s safety policies and practices.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel;  reach and signal with hands and arms;  climb or balance;  stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;  talk or hear;  and taste or smell.  The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses.  Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.
