Mission

Be part of this transformative journey and help us create a lasting impact for generations to come! We are looking for a Track Engineer to join our team! The Track Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance support of track systems for a Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the design and implementation of trackwork’s meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Main Responsibilities
• Prepare and review detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and track alignment layouts (horizontal and vertical).
• Ensure construction activities incorporate freeze/thaw cycles, alignment, curvature, grading, elevation, and system and drainage element
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to inform track design and construction.
• Coordinate with civil, signaling, electrical, and systems engineers to ensure integration of track infrastructure with other LRT systems.
• Provide technical support during construction, including overseeing installation, inspecting works, and resolving field issues.
• Coordinate with all segments to ensure seamless integration of signaling, traction power, systems, civil works, structures, roads, and drainage
• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international rail standards and safety regulations.
• Perform geometric alignment and track structure design (ballasted and ballastless).
• Assist in procurement and evaluation of track materials and subcontractors.
• Participate in risk assessments, constructability reviews, and value engineering efforts.
• Prepare progress reports, technical documentation, and interface management documents.
• Carry out inspections of track and track switches, review all documentation to deem fit for dynamic tests with LRV.
• Carry out real time wheel/ rail interface tests on track and track switches for first run.
• Inspect track, and track switches and other track components (switch machines), cizor crossovers, wheel sensors detectors, axle counters) for LRV first run, and manage alignment go/no/go on LRV testing.
• Assess any track damage and define speed restrictions if needed and assess repairs to life restrictions. Manage interface with LRV supplier / operator on track aspects through temporary operations and commissioning team.
• Supervise and direct track inspection team, intersection flaggers and track readiness for all LRV movement for commissioning.
• Supervise and direct track team for any repair or adjustment to any track component if required
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is desirable.
• At least 10 years of years of experience in rail or transit infrastructure projects, with a focus on track design and construction.
• Ability to read and interpret contract specifications, drawings and other construction documents
• Strong knowledge of LRT systems, track design standards and construction methods.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation), and track design tools .
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills
• Experience on large-scale urban rail transit or LRT projects.
• Familiarity with track construction methods including embedded, slab, and ballasted track.
• Knowledge of vibration and noise mitigation in track design.
• Strong technical knowledge in railway equipment such as special tracks (including switch machines), cizor crossovers, wheel sensors detectors, axle counters.
• Knowledge of standard track tools and equipment to be able to assess mitigation measures and associated schedule if required
• Interface coordination with testing and commissioning, signaling, and operations teams.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey design concepts and mentor staff.
• Valid Class 5 license; clean abstract preferred
• Ability to negotiate the terrain of an in-process construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders, steep/ slippery terrain, walking, and working outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather and conditions
