Mission

Marigold is the design-build joint venture between Colas and Parsons, constructing the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT.  We are seeking experienced LRT Systems, Stations -Testing and Commissioning (T&C) Engineers & Supervisors to join our team.  The successful candidate will have over 10 years of experience working on multiple railway systems and large projects with a full understanding of system engineering, requirements and verification and validation processes.  

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the Testing, Commissioning, and operational readiness program.   

Responsibilities

  • Drive the T&C phase of the Works and provide leadership and direction on path forward.  This includes progress, identifying integration between systems testing, construction activities and operations. 
  • Understand and work with rail operational activities within depots and mainlines, understand and implement safe work practices in and around rollingstock, depot equipment and railway systems. 
  • Bring knowledge and understanding of depot & mainline readiness to accept new rolling stock, and interface with all systems and functions.  
  • Develop and implement new commissioning and handover sequences, operational readiness strategies, guidance documents, and templates. 
  • Ensure correct interface documentation are in place and followed during testing and operational activities. 
  • Monitor and control test hierarchy and defined process on site to support project “Commissioning Work” activities, commissioning milestones.   
  • Responsible for site safety during T&C activities.
  • Coordinate and implement light/corrective maintenance with defined documentation during testing phase. 
  • Ensure project schedules are followed and communicated/updated.

  • Interface with the Systems Lead and various Discipline Leads to determine potential obstacles to deliver all commissioning activities. 
  • Ensure that Discipline Leads are applying the principles of validation as outlined in the T&C Plan.   
  • Ensure that all third-party contractors consistently adhere to the installation and commissioning requirements and V&V processes. 
  • Utilize previous project knowledge and experience to find solutions to challenges and setbacks as they occur.  
  • Remain up to date on the most recent best practices to ensure that lessons learned across the industry are applied as required. 
  • Contribute to all commissioning and construction meetings & identify potential testing or operation blocking points. 
  • Understand “readiness” and “priority” when driving commissioning activities.
  • Review the T&C program/plans & procedures, to be implemented for successful project delivery. 
  • Participate in hands-on testing and commissioning activities. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or relevant field experience. 
  • 10 years of experience working on multiple railway projects with a full understanding of system engineering, requirements and verification and validation processes. 
  • Must have 10+ years hands on Testing & Commissioning experience with leadership & documentation experience. 
  • Experience with railway systems or large MEP, automation of industrial processes, Data centres 
  • Technical knowledge and experience in the commissioning of Signalling (TCS, TRPS), Communications (Voice/Wifi/Data radio, Visual displays, Fibre network, Security & Access), Power (Medium Voltage distribution, Traction &OCS, LV Generation and distribution) 
  • Experience on sequenced energization, staged operational readiness and temporary operations control measures. Interface with operational systems (Brown field), Integration process controls. 
  • Experience in team management & leadership. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to Goal Zero safety program. 

Location

The successful candidate will be required to relocate to beautiful Edmonton, Alberta for the duration of the project.  Relocation package available.
