The Quality Assurance MEP Coordinator will oversee and ensure the quality of MEP systems in the LRT project. This role involves inspecting installations, testing systems for compliance with industry standards, and ensuring that all MEP systems function efficiently and effectively.
Ability to negotiate the terrain of an in-process construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders, steep/ slippery terrain, walking, and working outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather and conditions. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. This position may require travel to various project sites.
Main Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
• Ensure all MEP systems meet regulatory requirements and safety standards, to ensure the early identification of variances and deficiencies
• Ensure early identification and documentation of non-conformities through regular surveillance audits, site walkdowns, and other forms of QA activities
• Support external ISO 9001 regulation and assessment audit programs.
• Hold project team accountable for quality assurance program requirements and the overall Quality Manual.
• Review, approve and develop Inspection and Testing Plans (ITP) and their associated checklists and inspection forms
• Conduct regular inspections and tests of MEP installations to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Perform and document regular surveillance audits to ensure adherence to the ITP program
• Ensure that all personnel working on the project understand the code and specification requirements applicable to their specific scope of work
• Manage and provide necessary guidance to Quality Inspectors and Quality Field Engineers
• Review quality records for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor and evaluate performance and report to the Quality Manager.
• Verify project requirements are specified to vendors and contractor documentation submittals
• Manage the material receiving process to ensure all received materials are in conformance with the approved submittal, stored and handled properly.
• Review and monitor the disposition and status of all issued nonconforming reports.
• Monitor the progress and effectiveness of the project quality management system.
• Recommend and implement improvements when required.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of QA experience in MEP systems on construction projects (transportation infrastructure preferred).
• Certified Professional Engineer or Engineering Technologist (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil).
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Canadian Building Codes.
• Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
• Familiarity with CSA, ASTM codes, and fire-related construction requirements.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Quality Management Systems.
