Mission

Be part of this transformative journey and help us create a lasting impact for generations to come! We are looking for a Project Manager with buildings experience to join our team! The Project manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the buildings relating to construction operations. They will have a technical understanding of the scope being managed and the responsibility to ensure all work is completed in budget and on schedule.
Main Responsibilities
• Ensure the Construction is in full compliance with the Project Agreement, including safety, environment, quality, performance and life cycle performance, such as Project’s ECO Plan, Health and Safety Plan, and all applicable legislation.
• Ensure that all permits are obtained before work begins.
• Direct the planning and construction of the associated work including the design and procurement interfaces.
• Ensure that construction is in accordance with the design and that design changes are not implemented without the Engineer of Record’s approval and City’s acceptance
• Work with Superintendents, Contraction Field Coordinators and Subcontractors to ensure work scope is completed as per the schedule and budget
• Direct the activities of construction superintendents and coordinators assigned to the work scope.
• Accountable for ensuring the information in the Matrix is regularly updated, particularly related to forecast and actual schedule dates.
• Work with the Procurement Team, responsible for administering the tendering and awards process for subcontracted services and supplies as it relates to construction.
• Prepare monthly Cost Reports and provide updates to the Commercial Team to facilitate timely invoices to the City.
• Interface with Design, Procurement and Construction.
• Prepare documents such as VRFQ packages, financial documentation, propose schedule changes, and ensure documentation is submitted and that ITPs, NCRs and As-builts are closed out in a timely manner.
• Assist with the resolution of project issues as they arise and communicate relevant information in a timely manner to the Segment Manager (IE: work scheduling conflicts, work interferences, errors/ discrepancies / omissions in design drawings, project deficiency, poor workmanship, etc).
Requirements
• Post secondary education in a construction-related field, or the equivalent work-related experience.
• Existing knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in large, complex, heavy public infrastructure programs, ideally with an understanding of LRT construction requirements
• Previous experience in contract management is considered an asset
• Valid Class 5 license; clean abstract preferred
• Ability to negotiate the terrain of an in-process construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders, steep/ slippery terrain, walking, and working outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather and conditions
