STUDENT OPPORTUNITY: 4 or 8-month term, commencing January 2026, located in Edmonton, Alberta 


Colas Canada is seeking a Fleet Coordinator / Administrative Assistant for a Co-Operative Internship. This role is ideal for students in Supply Chain Management or Business programs who want hands-on experience in logistics and operations. You’ll assist with fleet maintenance coordination, equipment rental tracking, invoicing, and may support procurement activities such as vehicle and equipment purchases or leases. In addition, you’ll help streamline communication and documentation between sites and the main office, managing high volumes of email and paperwork to ensure smooth operations. This is a great opportunity to develop organizational, analytical, and communication skills while contributing to a major infrastructure project.

The duties will be varied and will focus on tasks required to meet environmental, safety, and design compliance obligations.

Candidates should be physically able to navigate uneven terrain on an active construction site and demonstrate a willingness to learn and contribute to a major infrastructure project.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support various process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency
  • Assist the Coordinator in preparing progress reports for subcontractor activities
  • Verify and receive rental invoices in JDE
  • Assist process payment certifications, including:
    • Matching packing slips to invoices for quantity and pricing accuracy
    • Confirming approvals on packing slips and invoices
    • Verifying funds on purchase orders and coordinating top-ups when needed
  • Represent the organization professionally when interacting with suppliers, subcontractors, and sub-consultants
  • Maintain an organized system of digital records and documentation
  • Manage rental log in Excel and provide weekly reporting
  • Assist with other equipment coordination tasks as required
  • Participate in internal coordination meetings to report on progress and resolve issues
  • Work with segment managers for invoice approvals and vendors to resolve discrepancies
  • Conduct occasional site visits to observe construction activities and gain exposure to project environments

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Degree program, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or B.Comm, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to work effectively with a large team
  • Detail-oriented and service-focused, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Ability to manage deadlines and adjust to a flexible work schedule when required
  • Experience in the construction industry is considered an asset
