Mission
The City of Edmonton selected Marigold Infrastructure Partners to design and build the 14-kilometre Valley Line West LRT project from downtown to Lewis Farms. Construction began in 2021. Marigold is a design-build joint venture agreement between Colas and Parsons. We are looking for experienced Construction Quality Assurance and Quality Control Coordinator (QAQC) who will be responsible for managing and performing the daily QA and QC responsibilities of the project to ensure it is constructed in accordance with the Project Requirements and all applicable codes and standards. The QA/QC role includes direct oversight and review of the subcontractor's documentation and QC activities onsite. The QA/QC works with other in-house personnel (i.e. Project Coordinators, Construction Coordinators, Field Review Monitors, etc.) and external personnel (independent testing agencies, third parties, subcontractors, etc.) to produce and document a quality product. The QA/QC reports directly to the Construction Quality Manager.
Main Responsibilities
• Review construction performance to ensure the early identification of variances and deficiencies.
• Ensure early identification and documentation of non-conformities through regular surveillance audits, site walkdowns, and other forms of QC activities.
• Hold project team accountable for quality control program requirements and the overall Quality Manual.
• Review, approve and assist developing Inspection and Testing Plans (ITP) and their associated checklists and inspection forms.
• Perform physical inspections on site to adhere with the method of verifications stipulated into the ITP program.
• Ensure that all personnel working on the project understand the specification requirements applicable to their specific scope of work.
• Manage and provide necessary guidance to Subcontractors’ Quality Inspectors and Quality Field Engineers.
• Monitor and evaluate the subcontractors' performance and report to the Construction Quality Manager.
• Verify project requirements are clearly communicated to vendors and contractor.
• Oversee the material receiving process to ensure all received materials are in conformance with the approved submittal, stored and handled properly.
• Review and monitor the disposition and status of all issued nonconforming reports.
• Promote the Project Quality Absolutes, Quality Policy and Quality Objectives
• Recommend and implement improvements when required.
• Present the Quality portion in the daily MIP orientation and in the Sub-contractor kick off meeting.
• Lead construction turnover process for assigned scopes and ensure proper documentation is in place. Review quality records for accuracy and completeness.
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of direct construction inspection experience on major LRT Or similar projects.
• Certified in Alberta or other jurisdiction as either a Professional Engineer, Engineer in Training (EIT) or a certified Engineering Technologist.
• Multidisciplinary backgrounds in electrical, civil and structural is preferred.
• Working knowledge of material testing such as earthwork, asphalt and concrete testing is an asset.
• Working knowledge of the method of rail’s welding such as Flush-Butt and/or Thermite is an asset.
• Good knowledge and experience in the implementation of problem-solving methodology and performance of Root Cause Analysis (i.e. 6 Sigma)
• Good knowledge and experience in ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Knowledge of Canadian Building Codes, CSA, and ASTM codes
• Experience with the Authority Having Jurisdiction to reach mutually agreeable solutions to technical issues or field issues.
• Thorough knowledge of general construction methods and construction codes.
• Understand the requirements of fire-related construction requirements.
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and Quality Management systems.
• Detail oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
