Mission

We are looking for an experienced Superintendent-Stops (Fit out) that will work closely with the project team to actively manage and coordinate construction on site at their assigned area (Stops), consistent with the costs, schedule, and contractual requirements of the project. This position will be responsible for coordination of all production requirements related to stops, including but not limited to safety, quality, administration, scheduling, cost controls, client/ subcontractor/ craft communication and management. Resolves conflicts with schedule and coordination and design, and leads by example in all facets related to the project’s ECO Plan. Heavy civil or LRT experience is required.
Main Responsibilities
Construction Site Management and Supervision
• Responsible for the construction site, including daily management of self-performed works and coordination of the sub-trade/ subcontractor works
• Integrates and manages the constraints of all parties working on site, ensuring full co-activity of all the works
• Ensure Project Agreement, ECO Plan and all legal requirements are met and ensure highest quality control in order to minimize deficiencies
• Ensure project materials and workmanship meet project design specifications and high quality control standards
• Oversees maintenance, general services on site
• Ensure smooth coordination of all construction-related activities
• Reviews and approves the necessary sub schedules for the works
• Drive adherence to project schedule deliverables and critical path
• Assist Project Manager and Facilities Team in the creation of the overall site schedule, plans and procedures (i.e. scheduling and forecasting resources)
• Responsible for the creation of the 6 week site schedule, and review and approval of plans and procedures (FIWPs)
• Ensure third party independent testing and inspections are completed and recorded and meet project design specifications for project acceptance and close out.
• Provide resolution to project issues as they arise and communicate project issues in a timely manner to Project Manager (i.e. work scheduling conflicts, work interference, errors/ discrepancies/ omissions in design drawings, project deficiencies list/ poor workmanship, quality, etc)
• Ensure third party independent testing and inspections are completed and recorded and meet project design specifications and inform Project Manager when closeout documentation and deliverables are completed and recorded
• Document daily job report and keep Project Manager informed of project status
• Ensure all Health and Safety plans for external parties working on your site are consistent and meet the Project ECO Plan requirements
• Provide leadership and direction to safety professionals and other site personnel as required
• Promote a safe work environment by leading by example
• In the event of an incident, immediately reports and follows project procedure
• Identifying and implementing process improvements in order to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of site operations
• Contribute to the preparation and execution of work plans and work packages
• Provide other technical office support as required by project team.
• Assist in developing cost estimates, reviews and budgets
• Coordination of material and equipment needs.
• Prepare productivity and cost tracking report as required
• Prepare cost estimates for change orders for audit purposes
• Prepare document turnover as required for client and milestone records
• Assist with maintenance of project files and preparation of reports
• Foster and maintain positive relations and communication with all stakeholders, internal and external
• Any other reasonable tasks assigned by your manager to complete the job.
Requirements
• 5+ years’ experience in a previous similar transferrable role
• Heavy civil construction experience, preferably in LRT or similar public infrastructure projects
• Completed post-secondary degree or diploma in construction-related discipline, or equivalent work experience
• Ability to read and interpret contract specifications, drawings and other construction documents
• Experience with Stops and traffic understanding/ electrical background an asset
• Valid Class 5 license, preferably with clean abstract

• Ability to negotiate the terrain of an in-process construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders, slippery terrain, work at-heights, using an aerial lift, and outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather (cold, hot, smoke, noise, dust, etc.)
• Availability to work at peak hours during construction season.
