Join us in an exciting adventure to complete the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT - a remarkable legacy project that will redefine our community’s transportation landscape! Be part of this transformative journey and help us create a lasting impact for generations to come!  The Survey Assistant will assist the Surveyors with the set up and removal of survey equipment and site removals across the construction segment.  Work may be outdoors, at-heights, in confined spaces, in all types of weather.  Previous experience using geomatics equipment, or post-secondary training are assets that will enable you to progress to Surveyor in the future.

Main Responsibilities

•    Adhere to all Safety, Environmental and project requirements
•    Provide geomatic services
•    Gain hands-on survey experience and be part of an exciting project that is unique to Western Canada
•    Aid the survey team in timely and accurate completion of surveys- set up, clean, calibrate and remove equipment
•    Work outside in all types of weather, sometimes at-heights or in steep terrain
•    Complete reports and follow up, aid in Computer-assisted drafting and technical programs
•    Complete daily survey tasks as assigned by your crew chief
•    Set up operation of conventional survey and GPS systems
•    Prepare accurate and timely field notes
•    Clean, calibrate and maintain survey equipment

 

Requirements

•    A high school graduate with a minimum of one year of previous experience, post-secondary training in an applicable field, or a combination of the two
•    Able to work extended hours and weekends as required when the job requires your presence
•    A clear, concise communicator with excellent organizational and follow up skills
•    Computer savvy and well-versed in MS Office suite. Survey-specific programs experience an asset
•    Physically fit and able to carry GPS equipment across uneven terrain and in all climates.
•    Ability to negotiate the terrain of an in-process construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders, steep/ slippery terrain, walking, and working outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather and conditions.


You may be asked to assist in other areas or departments where you are qualified during off-peak season.
