Cumberland Paving and Contracting is part of Miller Paving Atlantic, based in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Cumberland Paving and Contracting provides the public and private sectors with road construction, paving, road and structure rehabilitation, engineering construction, aggregate-based materials, highway operations, and maintenance services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed Truck and Coach Technician (310T)
- Heavy Equipment considered an asset (421A)
- Strong technical knowledge of equipment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong self management and organizational skills with the ability to work unsupervised
- Work extra hours and variable shifts as required
- Knowledge of word, excel and outlook an asset
Day In The Life
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the shop
- Supervise all shop staff; through mentoring, coaching and accountability, provide leadership to all shop staff to instill a sense of ownership and career satisfaction
- Ensure that all work is performed safely, cost effectively and in a timely manner
- Minimize equipment downtime
- Implement and follow a cost effective preventive maintenance program for all equipment (and facilities as applicable)
- Manage parts inventory; ensure timely and effective acquisition of materials; minimize on-hand inventory
- Ensures that all shop personnel, equipment, vehicles and work areas are in compliance with all safety policies and regulations at all times
- Ensure that the shop and surrounding grounds are clean and organized at all times
- Liaise with Operations Supervisors and drivers in a professional and team-oriented manner
- Maintain all equipment records and files
- Assist in preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment as required
