Job Summary:

Supports milling operations associated with commercial and heavy civil paving projects.

 

Overnight travel is required and per diem will be paid.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
•    Safely operate vehicles, tools and equipment, including, but not limited to on-road vehicles, skid steers, loaders, hand and power tools
•    Move tools and materials
•    Assist with milling and related operations
•    Assist with minor equipment maintenance and cleaning.
•    Unplugs and shovels off conveyors an screens
•    Changes out screens, rollers, cone liners etc.
•    Repairs conveyor problems
•    Greases moving machine parts
•    Performs crusher machinery set up and take down including running cables and hoses
•    Assembles/disassembles machinery, operating skid steers to move parts, tarping, shoveling aggregate 
•    Maintain clean and organized working areas
•    Work closely with skilled laborers and craft workers to complete projects
•    Engage in multiple forms of physical labor necessary for completion of assigned construction projects

Education:

•    High school diploma or equivalent preferred
•    Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required

Skills:

•    Previous experience in milling, and/or or related field preferred
•    Experience working in a heavy civil construction environment or similar industry preferred
•    Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to take initiative to assist in all areas of a project
•    Ability to follow direction, identify hazards, and work safely

Physical Requirements:

•    Wear and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
•    Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
•    Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) 
•    Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
•    Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
•    Frequent exposure to loud noise 
•    Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
•    Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
•    Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel may be required

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*:  $22-$26/Hr DOE

 

*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual’s qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
