Job Summary:

Under general direction, sets up, maintains, and repairs Asphalt production plant equipment; assists with plant operations as needed.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
•    Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
•    Communicate professionally in person, over the phone, and on company radio channels 
•    Perform manual/physical tasks required in plant operation and maintenance activities
•    Work closely with plant operators, equipment operators, drivers and others in completion of assigned tasks
•    Maintain plant equipment and facilities to meet operating requirements and objectives to reduce downtime
•    Review and follow highly technical and complex machinery manuals 
•    Visually inspect and test plant machinery and equipment
•    Perform preventative maintenance tasks on plant equipment and facilities
•    Perform repairs to worn processing equipment according to plant standards
•    Repair broken or defective machine parts, using welding and brazing tools
•    Inspect lubrication of mechanical equipment, record data for running equipment, take lab samples as required
•    Disassemble machine parts when transporting or repairing them, and reassemble the parts; assist with plant mobilization processes as needed
•    Collect data for preventative and predictive plant maintenance projects
•    Inspect lubrication of mechanical equipment, record data for running equipment, take lab samples as required
•    Change oil and filters on fixed and mobile machinery
•    Operate mobile heavy industrial equipment and/or company vehicles used to complete maintenance and perform other tasks involved in plant maintenance and operation as required
•    Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned

Education:

•    High school diploma or equivalent experience (GED)
•    Vocational/tech school training in industrial maintenance, similar field, and/or completion of accredited Millwright certificate/training program preferred (or equivalent combination of training and experience)
•    Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required

Skills:

•    3+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience with asphalt production plant or similar equipment preferred
•    Proficiency in operation of industrial and heavy equipment 
•    Proficiency with mobile devices and other technology used in daily operations
•    Ability to read and interpret signage and/or written instructions (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.)
•    Solid mechanical skill necessary to repair and/or maintain industrial/plant equipment 
•    Ability to problem-solve and recommend solutions
•    Ability to work in a team environment and independently with general guidance and limited direct supervision
•    Ability to interact professionally with others and clearly communicate information

Physical Requirements:

•    Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
•    Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
•    Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) 
•    Regularly required to read and understand signage, labels, and written instructions
•    Regularly required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
•    Regularly required to stand/work on feet for long periods, and walk across uneven terrain
•    Occasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock
•    Mining environment; regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, airborne particles, fuel/chemicals, loud noise, moving equipment/parts, and vibration

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*: $33.00-$38.00 DOE

 

*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual's qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
