Job Summary:

Operates steel-wheel and/or rubber-tired compaction rollers used in the construction of highways, city, and county streets,airport runways, parking lots, and similar excavation, utility, and construction projects.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
•    Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives
•    Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials accurately
•    Operate heavy equipment, including, but not limited to, steel-drum rollers, rubber-tire rollers, and other mobile equipment used in completion of construction projects
•    Operate other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasks
•    Perform minor equipment maintenance inspections such as greasing, checking oil and fluids
•    Drive company vehicles to worksites and company locations when authorized

Education:

•    High school diploma or equivalent experience
•    Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required

Skills:

•    Experience and/or training in operation of heavy equipment operation preferred
•    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

•    Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
•    Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
•    Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
•    Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
•    Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
•    Regularly required to work from a seated position operating equipment for long periods
•    Frequent exposure to loud noise 
•    Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration
•    Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
•    Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
•    Occasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*:$24-$28/Hr DOE

*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual’s qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
