Job Summary:

Responsible for daily operation of an equipment maintenance and repair shop, including safety, compliance, quality control, scheduling, and dispatching field mechanics. Performs repairs, maintenance, and service on electric, diesel, and gasoline company vehicles and equipment. Maintains accurate maintenance records and performs DOT inspections.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
•    Effectively coordinate the day-to-day work environment and staff to ensure safety, regulatory, and production targets are met
•    Actively support and lead Company initiatives related to safety and employee development
•    Assist with training, coaching and development of employees to perform at their highest level
•    Maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and Company business groups
•    Organize, schedule, and assign tasks to mechanics and other shop staff while ensuring effective time management
•    Coordinate scheduling of equipment maintenance and repair
•    Order and maintain inventory of parts and materials supply
•    Perform equipment repairs and other duties as a mechanic, including, but not limited to: diagnosing problems, reading/understanding technical manuals, installing/repairing systems and components, engine overhaul, and fabrication
•    Perform administrative tasks, including but not limited to e-mail correspondence, timecard entry, handling documents and electronic files, etc.
•    Safely operate company equipment, tooling, and vehicles
•    Perform data entry and other administrative tasks
•    Use computer system to enter and maintain data, and respond to e-mail correspondence

Education:

•    High School Diploma or equivalent
•    Certificate in Diesel Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
•    ASE Certification preferred
•    Valid Drivers’ License and ability to maintain clean driving record required; Class A CDL with Tanker & Hazmat Endorsement preferred

Skills:

•    3-5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair environment
•    1-2 years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
•    Experience performing U.S. DOT vehicle and brake inspections and adjustments preferred
•    Self-directed, results-oriented, and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance
•    Ability to lead and motivate others; prior experience effectively leading a team preferred
•    Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines
•    Basic computer skills, including use of MS Office products

Physical Requirements:

•    Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
•    Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
•    Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) 
•    Frequently required to stand; walk across uneven terrain; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
•    Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery
•    Occasionally required to work from heights
•    Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions and loud noises; including some exposure to fumes or airborne particles

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*:  $30.00-$38.00 DOE

 

*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual’s qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
