Job Summary

Laborer position for asphalt road construction crews in Venango, Clarion, Forest, Warren, McKean, and Jefferson counties.  This is a union position.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in a safe manner, maintaining an excellent safety environment
  • Participate in daily safety huddles
  • Shovel asphalt and other materials
  • Luting / raking asphalt and aggregates
  • Set-up and take down temporary work zones efficiently
  • Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers
  • Assist in backing and dumping of tri-axles and milling machines
  • Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials
  • Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut-off saw
  • Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones
  • Seal end joints
  • Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed
  • Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Skills

  • Perform tasks efficiently
  • Build professional relationships that develop excellent teamwork
  • Must be safety conscious

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work long shifts - up to 7 days a week when necessary
  • Must be willing to work night shifts when applicable
  • Must capable of long periods of standing / walking / moving without sitting
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must preform tasks while working in various seasonal climates
  • Able to complete tasks with frequent bending, twisting, scooping
  • Ability to climb when needed
