Job Title: Project Planning Manager Engineer
Reports to: Project Controls Manager / Project Director
Location: 6th of October City, Giza, Egypt
Responsibilities:
As a Project Planning Manager Engineer at COLAS Rail Egypt, you will be a key member of the Project’s management team, wielding strong planning expertise in multi-disciplinary construction projects. Your role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Project Schedule Setup: Develop and establish the project schedule encompassing all activities of the Power Supply & Depot equipment partner, covering design, procurement, installation, and testing & commissioning phases. Starting from the Initial Work Program (IWP) schedule, incorporate contractual milestones and detail all activities.
- Sequence of Activities: Set up sequences of activities within the Power Supply sector across subsystems and packages using Precedence Diagramming Method (PDM) and rolling wave planning techniques. Ensure compliance of sequences within the partner’s schedule; optimize the schedule, highlight risks of delays, and collaborate with operational teams on mitigation plans.
- Coordination and Liaison: Collaborate with the consortium-level Project Control team responsible for consolidating the partner’s schedule. Participate in weekly schedule meetings to maintain alignment.
- Documentation and Reporting: Define necessary schedule documentation, including schedule bar charts, Tilos extracts, and narrative assumptions, ensuring adherence to contractual objectives by all stakeholders. Prepare progress reports and performance reports as required.
- Progress Review: Conduct progress reviews with updates for 30-day and 90-day programs. Update the project schedule on a monthly basis considering team member inputs.
- Management: Lead the planning team by example. Review all schedules and report data prior to submission. Evaluate the project’s critical path post-update and ensure all contractual rights are preserved.
- Performance Reviews: Perform reviews of the planning team’s performance, ensuring succession plans and development plans are in place. Manage the interface with the BIM 4D model.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Egyptian Arabic (French proficiency is a plus).
- Understanding of internal, stakeholder, and external (client and authorities) expectations, with the ability to redefine/clarify needs, propose adequate solutions, and adapt communication and presentations accordingly.
- Strong negotiation skills, self-motivation, rigor, and excellent organizational skills.
- Capability to integrate within a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in schedule and planning methodologies and tools (such as Primavera and Tilos) with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in scheduling activities on major construction projects.
- Engineering background (or equivalent) with substantial evidence of experience on large multi-disciplinary projects.
- PMBOK® knowledge is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with BIM 4D interface.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Competency in electronic document management tools.
