Summary

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator is responsible for coordination of site activities during the planning, active and completed stages of the job. This role will work with owners/consultants, subcontractors, Project Managers, Estimators and Superintendents to ensure the project is completed within specifications.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Project Coordinator may vary by region, but should generally include:

  • Responsible for project file setup and activity cost coding, preparation, and distribution of job packages to facilitate field operations, maintain safety and other project documentation in file.
  • Monitor sub-contractors for compliance, including review and enforcement of Sub-Contractor Checklist (current utility locates, proper PPE etc.) and ensuring work being performed is to design standards and specifications, reporting any violations to the Project Manager.
  • Responsible for supporting and leading all aspects of the company safety program and regulations. This includes completing formal safety inspections and reports as required.
  • Maintain up to date utility locates to ensure site is ready for company personnel (ensuring sub-contractors have their own).
  • Attend site meetings as a company representative.
  • Responsible for collection and confirmation of field quantities for month end progress submissions.
  • Collect and record valuable information regarding the execution of a project and any issues that arise during construction.
  • Assist with collection of project costing updates as required by the job.
  • Assist in the projects budgeting and financial success, including estimating responsibilities (tendered and negotiated changes), month end tasks (revenue and cost projections), etc. as needed.
  • Maintain up to date short term work schedules of the active projects he/she is involved in.
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
  • Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
  • Other duties as required.

Safety

  • Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Complete, review and update hazard assessments as required.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.

Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma or Business Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, or equivalent, is an asset.
  • Class 5 driver’s license required.
  • 1 – 2 years of previous experience in civil construction.
  • Previous experience of reading and understanding construction drawings and specifications is an asset.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, HeavyBid, HeavyJob and JDE
