The primary responsibility of the Truck Driver –CDL Sweeper is to ensure that the area of responsibility remains compliant regarding dust minimization by removing dust from streets on paved surfaces within the plant sites as well as the surrounding City streets. The Sweeper Operator. As part of the job duties, the Truck Driver will be required to complete necessary paperwork as described below.  The CDL is needed since the sweepers are primarily operating on City Streets around the main yard. The sweepers also operate on the paved roads within Pit 2, Olive Pit, the main yard and other areas in which URP may operate.    

Main Responsibilities


  • Inspect equipment prior to operations
  • Maintains production and inspection logs as requested by company  
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for all individuals who work or visit the work area 
  • Inspect equipment prior to shift for safety, environmental and maintenance defects  
  • Monitor ground conditions in area where working   
  • Complete Daily pre/ post equipment inspections - report as needed  
  • Complete Environmental compliance reports - as requested  
  • Maintain adequate cleanliness of equipment 
  • Report any defects to shop and / or plant management 
  • Monitor environmental compliance (dust) of area 
  • Monitor and assist crew in completing needed maintenance and housekeeping tasks to ensure compliant work tasks and safe work environment. 
  • Safely remove rocks and other road hazards/ debris that were caused by URP customers from the roadways.  
  • Other duties as outlined by Foreman and/or Site Manger



  • Must have a valid CDL license – either Class A or Class B Driver with Tanker Endorsement
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience with operating a water truck in an aggregate or construction environment 
  • Experience with basic sweeper / water truck maintenance practices  
  • Understands MSHA and OSHA regulations 
  • Must have a strong, team oriented work ethic with strong focus on safety and environmental compliance 
  • Ability to understand and follow Company Handbook and Safety Policies 
  • Ability to work well with others 
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude 
  • Must be able to follow oral and written plans and directions
