Compensation

$39.83 per hour

Job Summary

Under management of the PIT Foreman/Plant Foreman, perform tasks involved with the extracting, crushing, and conveying of dredged material for further downstream processing. Dredge operator is also involved with housekeeping on the dredge as well as maintenance tasks associated with dredge and conveying systems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Operates dredge system which includes but is not limited to: dredge budgets, conveyors, crushers, screens, dewatering screens and cyclones used to extract, crush, screen and dewater systems parts of the plant and/or different pieces of heavy equipment used in Mining Operations
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor
  • Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment, shovels aggregate off conveyors and out of tunnels and secures job site daily to eliminate potential hazards
  • Follows daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings
  • Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on plant and/or assigned equipment and refers hazardous conditions, defects or needed repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment
  • Assists in the installation and maintenance crushers, screens and conveyors
  • Ensures that accurate safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the Foreman, Aggregate Manager, Safety Representative
  • Other duties as outlined by Aggregate Manager

Education

High school diploma or equivalent experience strongly preferred

Skills

  • 3 years dredging experience preferred
  • Strong history with aggregate production and/or maintenance
  • Strong, team oriented work ethic with strong focus on safety and environmental compliance
  • Strong mechanical proficiency
  • Understands and follows MSHA and OSHA regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and dedication to quality
  • Ability to understand and work on dredge bucket hydraulics
  • Ability to swim

Physical Requirements

  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license and able to drive company vehicle
  • Follow oral and written plans, directions, and instructions
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, balance, crawl, and climb
  • Clear and sharp vision (either naturally or with appropriate corrective measures)
  • Able to lift 50 pounds on a routine basis
  • Able to work in wet and dry conditions and extreme heat and col
  • Work in an environment that may include mechanical parts, airborne particles and moderate to loud noises requiring the consistent use of accurate PPE
  • Work overtime and various shift times as required
  • Weekend work as required to meet customer demands
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment as needed
