Sub Agent

Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a Sub Agent for our Leigh operation - Salary £35,000 - £40000, working across various sites.
Allied Infrastructure (part of the Colas Group) services 95% of the UK’s commercial, private, and military airfields, specialising in airfield pavements and small civil engineering projects. As Sub Agent, you will manage operational performance on allocated contracts and support project and site management in delivering and monitoring contracts and supplier performance.
Main Responsibilities
The Sub Agent ensures the seamless delivery of internal and subcontracted works from inception to handover. You will prepare, review and approve all project documentation, including Risk Assessments Method Statements (RAMS), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and permits to work, while managing both our internal permit system and the client’s Permit to Work process.
In close coordination with Site Supervision and Project Management, the Sub Agent will identify and organise the necessary resources, tools, equipment and materials, carry out look-ahead planning, monitor progress and costs, and raise early warnings for potential variations or delays. You will undertake regular site inspections, maintain daily diaries and shift reports, and ensure compliance with Colas health and safety standards and any client-specific rules via the EcoOnline system.
Your responsibilities will also include maintaining accurate as-built records, fostering effective teamwork with internal and external stakeholders, providing technical advice, building strong supplier relationships, and promoting a professional company image at all times.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be organised, communicative, and customer-focused, with a commitment to delivering projects on time, within budget, and to high standards. Ideally, you will hold a CSCS card, SMSTS qualification, and a full UK driving licence.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD, along with knowledge of construction methods and safety regulations, is essential. Candidates should have relevant experience with a civil engineering contractor, strong technical skills, and the ability to interpret drawings. A qualification such as HND, HNC, BEng, or equivalent is required
