Main Responsibilities

 

  • Safely and efficiently operate front end loader and/or heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site or highway construction and paving.
  • Operator will be responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers.
  • When working with co-workers, constant eye contact will be maintained when backing, communicating using hand signals or other movements.
  • Accurately follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Follow directions of Supervisor as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Supervisor.
  • Perform daily pre–and–post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in training less–experienced employees on the accurate operations, servicing and repair of equipment to further their abilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Be able to work overtime when required.
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends if required.

•    Must be able to climb onto and up and down equipment several times a day.
•    Must be able to sit and operate for several hours without stopping.
•    Must withstand vibration from job site conditions as well as noise from other equipment.
•    Must be able to use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions.
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee is required to sit at times for long periods.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses.  Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.
