Job Summary
Midland Asphalt Materials Inc. is looking for a Logistics Supervisor at our Lyons, NY facility. This position will be responsible for the administration of policies, procedures, training, reporting, and best practices within the operations department for Drivers, Contractors, Brokers, and Truck Dispatching. Under the direction of the NY Operations Manager, this position will manage the entire dispatch process for our construction side of the business. This pay for this position is $68,000 - $80,000.
Main Responsibilities
- Support and maintain a strong safety culture
- Schedule drivers/operators and approve timecards
- Use telematics and ticketing software effectively
- Handle fleet permitting and registrations
- Understand and follow DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Monitor driver hours of service to ensure safe, compliant, on‑time deliveries
- Plan and coordinate equipment moves and material needs
- Coordinate and issue oversized/overweight permits
- Address customer transportation needs, including arranging contracted or third‑party carriers
- Ensure accurate shipment information (job numbers, delivery receipts, etc.)
- Collect and submit required paperwork for billing, payroll, and other processes
- Maintain relationships with customers, carriers, and drivers to support service and revenue goals
- Monitor driver performance and report issues such as non‑compliance or late deliveries
- Work with Safety and Shop Manager on various functions, including safety communication, accident investigations, and preventive maintenance
- Resolve conflicts involving customers, carriers, or drivers
- Support driver development and retention
- Perform other duties as assigned by the NY Operations Manager
Qualifications and Physical Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- CDL preferred but not required
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role in logistics or construction industry preferred
- Proficient using a computer (Microsoft Teams, Excel and Word)
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Must be able to lift up to 75lbs
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Possess strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and team-based environment
- Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel may be required
