Position Summary
The Lab Technician is responsible for Quality Assurance/Quality Control testing on asphalt ensuring that product meets or exceeds industry standards. The Lab Technician is also responsible for quality control on asphalt emulsion, the design and formulation of asphalt products and research and development.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Quality Control - Raw materials, formulation review and optimization, Quality Control plans, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 and AASHTO R18 certifications
- Research and Development - Assist in formulating new products and reformulate and optimize existing ones for performance and cost optimization
- Consulting and Design – Mix designs, compatibility testing, material analysis etc.
- Troubleshoot product formulations and processes, conduct formulation updates for optimizing product quality within existing specifications
Qualifications
• College Diploma in Chemistry, Civil, Mathematical or Science;
• Knowledge of engineering principles that govern road construction;
• Experience in technical services, Research and Development or Sales in a Petroleum related industry;
• A high level of communication and correspondence skills, customer support and relationship building;
