Minimum Qualifications
-
5+ years of relevant experience as a Controller or in a similar senior accounting role
-
Previous supervisory or people management experience
-
Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and present financial data

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling, complex formulas)

Willingness to travel periodically to different divisions and project locations
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the Construction and/or Manufacturing industry

Prior experience overseeing multi-division or multi-entity financial reporting

Working knowledge of ERP/accounting systems (e.g., JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, or similar)

Strong business partnering skills with operations, project managers, and senior leadership

Proven ability to develop and implement internal controls and process improvements

Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in a project-based environment

Experience supporting audits and liaising with external auditors

Strong problem-solving, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
Day in the Life
As a Divisional Controller, you will play a key leadership role in driving financial performance and supporting business unit leaders. Your day will be a balance of strategic financial oversight, team leadership, and hands-on problem solving. You’ll prepare and analyze monthly business unit statements, profit recognition, cost reporting, and project forecasts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate standards. Working closely with management, you’ll lead monthly business reviews, provide insights to support decision-making, and help shape annual budgets and financial plans. You’ll implement and monitor cost control, job costing, and forecasting systems at the project level while investigating profitability issues and recommending solutions.
In addition, you’ll oversee balance sheets, sub-ledgers, inventory accounting, and intercompany transactions, as well as support internal and external audits. Acting as a business partner, you’ll provide clear financial analysis to managers, ensuring they understand the impact of their decisions.
Beyond the numbers, you’ll mentor and develop staff across multiple business units, improve processes, and maintain strong internal controls. Every day, you’ll contribute directly to the company’s growth by blending financial expertise with operational support.
