Sourcing and Procurement Specialist

Role Purpose

The Sourcing/Procurement Specialist is responsible for advancing the goals of the Procurement Function Strategy by enhancing the sourcing process and identifying key new suppliers. This role provides technical expertise to internal partners throughout all strategic sourcing activities, including prioritizing needs analysis, developing and implementing sourcing strategies, and negotiating supplier contracts, while leveraging relevant purchasing strategies. The Specialist supports various types of purchases and may develop specialized knowledge in one or more strategic spend categories in response to evolving internal partner needs and changes in procurement strategies. Additionally, the role entails cross-functional responsibilities, fostering collaboration and efficiency within the procurement team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to internal partners on procurement policies and procedures.
  • Conduct needs analysis in collaboration with internal partners to ensure accurate understanding of requirements.
  • Assist in collecting and revising technical specifications and stay informed about innovations.
  • Continuously analyze the market for goods and services relevant to9 the organization
  • Advise internal partners on the pros and cons of various procurement options and strategies
  • Execute the competitive bidding and vendor selection process by reviewing relevant documents
  • Identify and establish relationships with strategic partners
  • Negotiate contractual agreements and pricing in collaboration with the legal team
  • Purchasing and Ordering as required
  • Monitor and track compliance and accuracy of orders with internal partners and suppliers
  • Management reporting and monitoring Key Performance Indicators as required
  • Participate in Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Subject Matter Expert for Procurement related inquiries

 

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in, business, supply chain, finance, engineering, or related field.
  • PMAC certification an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with and across all levels of the organization.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ sourcing and procurement experience, preferably within the infrastructure industry.
  • Strong knowledge of sourcing and procurement processes, including contracting, negotiation, supplier management.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement procurement strategies that support business objectives.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
  • Ability to synthesize multiple data sources to identify trends, opportunities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, procurement systems (S2P) a must, Generative AI within Procurement a plus.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of Procurement policies, regulation and tax guidelines
