Summary

The Divisional Controller is responsible for working with the Group Controller, Business Unit Managers, Project Managers and Corporate Finance team, to provide support with their business activities in the areas of accounting, administration, internal controls, and information systems.  This position reports to the Group Controller, Finance.

As a Divisional Controller, You Will:

  • Prepare monthly business unit statements, financial review information and annual business unit budgets and assist business unit managers in the financial planning processes
  • Together with management, hold monthly business reviews with each business unit and report to the executive team
  • Understand and support implementation of cost control, job costing and forecasting systems at the project level
  • Assist with internal and external audits as required
  • Provide analysis and support to business unit managers to ensure understanding of business unit statements and financial implications of business decisions
  • Perform monthly divisional profit/revenue recognition, develop and analyze monthly cost reporting, and project forecasts
  • Investigate profitability issues and forecasts changes
  • Maintain tracking of intercompany billings and accruals for internal charges according to corporate accounting standards
  • Maintain balance sheet and sub ledgers and manage inventory accounting for the specific business units
  • Assist staff with daily process issues and process improvement, ensuring adequate internal controls are in place
  • Lead and develop individuals within different business units
  • Other duties as required

What You'll Bring:

  • 5+ years’ relevant experience as a Controller or similar role
  • Experience in Construction and Manufacturing Industry is strongly preferred
  • Professional accounting designation, or working towards a professional accounting designation
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and excellent verbal and written communications
  • Advanced experience with MS Excel
  • Some travel is required to different divisions and project locations
