Job Summary
The Division Controller will report directly to the Division Vice President(s) and Chief Financial Officer and will provide financial and administrative support for the Division VP’s and Operations within the assigned Regions. The Division Controller will lead and support the finance and administration staffs with their responsibilities to provide accurate and timely reporting of Financial data as required by various internal and external users.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage and motivate the Regional Accounting teams to provide accurate and timely financial information and reports for insightful management decision making across the Regional Profit Centers.
- Recruit, train, develop and evaluate regional staff and mentor high potential employees.
- Develop a cohesive, strategic team of Controllers to successfully manage the Financial and Administrative operations in the Region.
- Direct financial strategies, planning and forecast, analyze actual results, conferring with Vice Presidents, and Regional Management.
- Travel to meet with and provide open communications with Corporate, Divisional, and Regional personnel to discuss strategy, policies, procedures and Company core values.
- Present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to Management.
- Direct and oversee implementation of annual and new reporting requirements involving the Accounting and administrative functions of the company (Budgets, Actual Results, External audit, Inventory valuations, IT developments, CPI initiatives, etc.)
- Establish and implement short and long-range goals, objectives and operating procedures for the Divisions.
- Control and adjust Regional Accounting and Financial procedures in order to comply with US GAAP, IFRS, Barrett, and Colas policies.
- Stay up to date on industry specific changes and technologies.
- Ensure compliance and internal controls at Regions.
- Review weekly cash forecasts and attend weekly AR meetings, as available.
- Responsible to fill in the role of Region Controller in the interim within the Division if current roles change (promotion, leaving the company, etc).
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field required
- Valid Drivers’ License and ability to maintain a clean driving record
Skills
- 6+ years of overall combined accounting experience, experience in the construction and/or manufacturing field preferred
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CCIFP (Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional), CFM (Certified Financial Managers), or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) preferred
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to work with a diverse team, and promote mentorship and professional development of staff
- Ability to apply accounting concepts such as debits, credits, reconciliation, analysis, etc.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Proficiency in accounting programs (JD Edwards Preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
