Job Summary

The environmental coordinator is responsible for overseeing and implementing an organization's environmental policies and initiatives for Barrett Midwest Division. They work to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards, manage sustainability projects, and promote practices that reduce environmental impact. Key responsibilities may include conducting environmental assessments, developing and managing waste reduction programs, coordinating training for employees on environmental practices, collaborating with regulatory agencies, and reporting on the organization's environmental performance. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of environmental laws and sustainability principles. Effective communication and project management skills are also essential to engage stakeholders and promote awareness of environmental issues within the organization.

Main Responsibilities

  •  Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal environmental regulations through regular audits and inspections.
     Prepare and submit accurate environmental reports and documentation to regulatory agencies in a timely manner.
  •  Develop and conduct comprehensive training programs for employees on environmental policies, compliance procedures.
     Promote sustainability initiatives among employees, to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
  •  Monitor and evaluate the environmental impact of projects and operations.
     Collaborate with project teams to integrate sustainable practices into project planning and execution
  •  Serve as the primary contact for external stakeholders regarding environmental concerns.
     Facilitate communication about environmental initiatives with regulatory agencies and community organizations.
  •  Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.
     Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
     Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across teams.
     Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
     Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field (preferred)
  • 2-3 years of experience in local, state (Ohio) and federal environmental regulations and compliance
  • Previous experience with OH environmental regulations (preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License with an excellent DMV record

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate skillset in Microsoft Programs
  • Team player with the ability to work alone for specific tasks
