Job Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for various administrative and recordkeeping supporting company initiatives relating to recruiting, employee relations, employee development, employee benefits, and disciplinary action including termination through effective communication and information sharing. The HR Coordinator serves as a link between our corporate HR department and front-line supervisors/managers in a region or subsidiary of Barrett Industries.

Main Responsibilities

  • Implement HR policies, procedures, and programs – drug and alcohol policies, wellness programs, service awards, etc.
  • Lead all aspects of and coordinate employee benefits and employee relations programs.
  • Indoctrinate new employees, administer/manage payroll functions, and ensure maintenance of accurate and complete personnel records.
  • Provide information and advice to regional managers, supervisors, and employees to ensure compliance with employment laws such as sexual harassment, equal employment opportunity, disability, or discrimination.
  • Coordinate employee communications – keeping employees informed regarding changes in benefits and personnel policies.
  • Actively manage problem workers compensation claims by maintaining contact with employees that are out of work due to injuries sustained on the job - ensure that they receive proper medical care and work with local management to identify appropriate light duty assignments.
  • Coordinate recruiting, hiring, employee development programs.
  • Participate in disciplinary actions or termination proceedings.
  • Attend management meetings to explain, identify and implement strategies, policy initiatives and programs related human resources.
  • Prepare and submit various reports to regional management and the corporate team.

Education

  • A college education (associate’s or bachelor’s degree) or professional certification is preferable.

Skills

  • Knowledge of and the ability to use computers and existing software.
  • Ability to administer the assigned HR program and to understand and complete oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to be flexible, work with interruptions, and shift priorities as the need arises.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work optimally to meet guidelines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees of the Company and the general public.
