Job Summary
Barrett Paving MWC is seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on Plant Operations Intern to support our plant management and operations teams. This internship provides valuable exposure to the daily processes involved in asphalt production, plant maintenance, inventory management, and operational efficiency within a busy plant environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the asphalt or aggregate plant, including production and maintenance tasks
- Monitor material flow and inventory levels; help track usage and report discrepancies
- Support plant personnel in equipment inspections, troubleshooting, and minor repairs
- Maintain accurate records of production data, material deliveries, and plant maintenance activities
- Observe and learn plant safety procedures, contributing to a safe work environment
- Assist with quality control checks on materials and samples
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and operations teams to improve plant efficiency
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings
- Help identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Construction Management, or a related field
- Interest in plant operations, manufacturing, and materials production
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Willingness to work in an industrial and outdoor environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance or production processes is a plus
