Job Summary

HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for upbeat Asphalt Plants Groundsman and Driver for our Milton Plant.

Main Responsibilities

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Assist plant operator with daily operations of the plant
  • Responsible for a safe work environment
  • Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Follow directions of supervisor and/or plant operator as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite
  • Display a professional and courteous demeanor to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
  • Reliable, regular on time attendance is required and crucial to the operation of the team
  • General Mechanical knowledge and welding and cutting ability

Education

  • No CDL Required!
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Must maintain a clean driving record

Skills

  • Previous related experience in the construction field, preferably in or closely related to a quarry or heavy highway construction operation
  • Safely maintain asphalt plant grounds by shoveling dirt, stone, and asphalt
  • Safely operates skid steer and /or BobCat equipment, among other equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance to plant equipment
  • Rigorously adhere to safety requirements, policies, and procedures as outlined in the employee policy manual
  • Work in a team environment and assist co-workers or managers with other duties as required
  • Perform general labor duties when necessary

Physical Requirements

The position requires strict adherence to Company safety guidelines, including wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment (PPE) when vital. Physical tasks may involve lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. Manual dexterity is regularly required for manipulating objects. Effective communication skills, including talking and hearing, are necessary. The role often involves standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. These activities may be performed on uneven terrain. Additionally, exposure to loud noise is frequent, and the individual will be regularly subjected to various weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles. There is also regular exposure to fuel, oil, and other chemicals. The job may require flexibility in working hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime. Compliance with the company's drug and alcohol testing policies is mandatory. A proven track record of working safely is essential, along with a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a positive attitude. Some travel may be necessary in this role.
