Minimum Requirements

  • 3 years’ practical hands-on experience in Costing, Inventory Control as well as experience working in a Parts department

  • Hands-on experience in computerized buying, planning, and/or inventory systems

  • Mechanically-inclined; working knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
  • The ability to work harmoniously with key personnel to understand what part is required and get it ordered and delivered in a timely and efficient manner 
  • Physically organize the parts within our department which includes lifting items weighing up to 22kgs
  • Excellent verbal and written communications

  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to manage relationships with suppliers and internal operations staff

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of import and export shipping requirements and procedures
  • Experience with the JDE system or a similar system 

  • Understanding of cost control and budget tracking in project environments

Day In the Life

Get ready for a thrilling day in the life of Parts Person. As a Parts Person you will be responsible for acquiring tools, materials, equipment, goods, services, and finished products based on the specifications for the efficient running of a mechanic shop and road construction operation. Your role will involve assessing requirements to develop clear and accurate specifications, preparing requisitions and purchase orders, and arranging timely deliveries. You will also be directing suppliers on shipment and delivery schedules to ensure smooth operations, maintaining accurate records in the online ordering database, maintaining inventory levels through coordinating deliveries and managing monthly purchase order logs, usage data, and receipts.

 

You will gain exposure to cost control activities through maintaining accurate records of purchases, costs, and supplier information. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with the Equipment team to issue and track all purchase orders. This position requires a blend of efficiency and a hands on approach to ensure that all parts activities meet quality standards, timelines, and budget expectations while supporting the organization’s operational needs.
