Job Summary

The Telematics Manager is responsible for developing the strategy for telematics in Colas USA to include the review, selection, and implementation across the enterprise for telematics.  Also responsible for analyzing and evaluating safety, maintenance and operational performance metrics, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness for the heavy equipment fleet to support the Colas USA construction operations. They will work closely with key stakeholders across the subsidiaries to track performance, optimize best practices, and support data-driven decision-making across various sites. Metrics to be tracked include but are not limited to GPS location tracking, fuel consumption, idling, and driver performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Strategy for telematics in our company
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data from telemetric devices to provide insights on key safety and business metrics to optimize fleet performance and  ensure our  safety culture
  • Coordinates and oversees the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telematic devices and software platforms across the Colas USA companies
  • Using collected data and industry standards, recommends proper timelines to replace older, higher maintenance equipment to optimize performance and reduce costs
  • Identifies poor operator behaviors, such as speeding, machine overloading, and hard braking, in order to train and correct these habits
  • Develops and maintains regular performance reports and dashboards for management
  • Monitors and assesses the efficiency of internal processes, identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify and track performance KPIs
  • Stays up to date on AI and other digital technologies to determine how they can best help our endeavors
  • Assists in designing and implementing data collection processes and performance measurement tools
  • Summarizes findings and recommendations in a clear, concise manner that non-experts can easily understand
  • Conducts benchmarking studies and competitive analysis to assess industry standards and best practices
  • Performs trend analysis, forecasting, and risk assessment to proactively address potential performance and maintenance gaps

Skills

  • Strong appreciation for the role of telematics in the safety of our employees
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a decentralized environment while still meeting your strategy and objectives
  • 5-7 years of experience in data analytics required, previous experience in the construction industry preferred
  • Experience with fleet operations, telematics platforms, and GPS systems greatly preferred
  • Knowledge of industry-specific performance benchmarks and best practices is a plus
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Understanding of performance metrics, KPIs, and data-driven decision-making processes
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets
  • Ability to communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technologies, financial analytics, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) preferred but not required
  • Valid Drivers’ License and ability to maintain a clean driving record
