For the Project Engineering postion, we are loking for someone with ambition, someone who is a self starter, someone highly motivated, a background in engineering or construction managment, and who operates in a highly professional, ethical and ompetitive fast paced environment.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Engineer at HRI, Inc. is primarily responsible for working with the Superintendent on all aspects of construction on a given project while finishing on-time and within budget in a manner consistent with Company policies and procedures.  Daily tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Completing the assigned project within time and budget as bid by the estimating team
  • Assist in bidding projects
  • Responsible for the quality of the project, meeting the owners’ specifications and expectations
  • Responsible for coordinating surveys and layouts, supervising testing, reviewing and commenting on daily reports, subcontract supervision and scheduling
  • Developing and preparing short term schedules and assisting with the long term scheduling of the project
  • Scheduling daily operations and resources (ie. labor, equipment, materials and trucking)
  • Communicating daily with Foreman of various crews
  • Assist with tracking of accurate daily quantities
  • Reviewing cost analysis, job cost reports, contract documentation (photos, letters, emails, etc.) and production reports
  • Reviewing purchase orders, delivery tickets, and ensuring transmittal to accounting
  • Monthly review of adjustments, forecasts, and “cost to completes”
  • Reviewing and compiling all claims, force accounts, agreed prices and change orders
  • Performing weekly Jobsite inspections and documentation, completing daily superintendent diaries
  • Training and mentoring new employees/interns/apprentices
  • Maintaining safety records, reviewing and commenting on accident reports

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • An Associates or Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Construction Management discipline or 1-3 years of performing job functions corresponding to this position required
  • A year or more of experience in highway construction or similar industry (internships count)
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license
  • Must be drug and alcohol free
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Thorough knowledge of construction materials, costs and procedures in heavy construction
  • High aptitude for mathematics
  • High proficiency in computers- including the Microsoft Office Suite (experience with HeavyBid, HeavyJob and Primavera P6 are a plus)
  • Candidate must be well organized and possess a strong work ethic
  • Ability to track job performance
  • Assertiveness, self-confidence and strong communication skills for interacting with project owners and subcontractors
  • Solid understanding of contract documents and be able to apply to actual construction
  • General knowledge of applicable construction operations
  • Experience reading construction specifications and/or plans
  • Additional safety or environmental training a plus
