Are you an experienced Roller Operator looking for a new challenge?  Are you wanting to be part of a team that values your contributions and can provide continuous opportunities for growth?  G&C Asphalt/ E Construction is now hiring an experienced Roller Operator for various worksites throughout Saskatchewan for the 2025 construction season!

 

The role of Finish Roller Operator will operate the roller in a safe and efficient manner, while playing an important role in our road building process by compressing and finishing the asphalt application by smoothing and cooling the asphalt.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the roller and other heavy equipment in a safe manner.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
  • Determine the speed and direction of the machines so that ridges do not form from excessive pressure.
  • Use hand roller or portable power roller to pound surfaces not accessible to road roller.
  • Operate self-propelled steel-wheeled or other types of rollers.
  • Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the roller.
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company's Code of Ethics.
  • Other construction related duties as required.

Qualifications | Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within the road construction industry.
  • 2-3 years' experience operating a roller, finish roller experience is preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Weather dependent schedule of Monday to Saturday, up to 12 hours per day.  Overtime is paid in accordance with local employment standards legislation.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Out of town travel may be required.  Accommodations and Live Out Allowance (LOA) is applicable in most situations.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50LBS on a regular basis.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
  • Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
