Our accounting management team is an integral part to the success of overall operations and works closely with operational personnel to achieve company objectives in accordance with GAAP, Colas internal policies and other regulatory requirements.  The variety of duties requires that the Senior Accountant to be highly motivated, organized, detail oriented and an effective communicator.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare, review, and analyze financial information to ensure integrity is maintained
- Perform financial management functions including daily cash management, cash forecasting, and manage/analyze inventories, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, balance sheet, job cost, and operational & administrative costs
- Responsible for accurate and timely monthly financial closings
- Along with the Controller, manage and develop skilled accounting staff (AP, AR, Staff Accountant, etc) to support organizational, department, and employee objectives.
- Maintain and develop internal control procedures
- Review and ensure that contracts comply with company standards (in conjunction with Contract Administrator)
- Responsible for compliance and regulatory reporting (ie, highway use tax, sales tax, property tax)
- Manages the purchase and fleet card program in coordination with the Controller
- Work closely with operations to understand and assure proper flow of accounting information
- Review and assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts in coordination with Controller
- Communicate and identify business issues to management
- Participate in external and internal audits as required
- Uphold Colas ethics and business principles
- Travel, as deemed necessary by management



- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with a major of accounting, finance, or business administration with a concentration in accounting
- CPA/CMA or other professional qualifications are preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
- Motivated, positive, and professional
- Minimum of 5 years accounting experience preferably in construction and/or manufacturing field
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Intermediate level in Excel
- JD Edwards experience preferred
- Open to relocation opportunities
