Job Summary:
Responsible for daily operation of a concrete ready-mix production plant, including safety, compliance, quality control, and dispatch of drivers to deliver product to customer sites.
All prospective candidates should enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather, be open to working in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability provide excellent service to internal and external customers. Candidates may also need to work early mornings, late evenings, and/or some weekend days depending on production needs.
Main Responsibilities:
• Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
• Ensure the highest standards are achieved and maintained in terms of safety, quality, and efficiency
• Effectively coordinate daily plant operations and staff to ensure safety, regulatory, and production targets are met
• Actively support and lead Company initiatives related to safety and employee development
• Assist with training, coaching and development of employees to perform at their highest level
• Maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and Company business groups
• Effectively communicate professionally with customers and drivers in person, over the phone, and on radio channels
• Quote prices and receive orders for materials product
• Establish delivery schedules according to factors including truck capacity, delivery site distance, and unloading time
• Use computer system to enter and maintain customer data, manage dispatch schedule, prepare reports, and respond to e-mail correspondence
• Batch and inspect loads to ensure consistency of mix
• Prepare invoices, delivery tickets, and related shipping documents; assign drivers for scheduled deliveries
• Coordinate scheduling of plant equipment maintenance
• Order and maintain inventory of raw materials supply
• Safely operate company equipment, tooling, and vehicles
Education:
• Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required; Class B commercial license preferred
Skills:
• 3 or more years of experience in ready-mix production operations and/or similar role
• 2 or more years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
• Self-directed, results-oriented, and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance
• Ability to lead and motivate others; prior experience effectively managing a team preferred
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines
• Basic computer skills, including use of MS Office products
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
• Frequently required to stand; walk across uneven terrain; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery
• Occasionally required to work from heights
• Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions and loud noises; including some exposure to fumes or airborne particles
