The Colas Group operates internationally in every aspect of construction and maintenance for roads and for other types of transport infrastructure as well as on projects involving urban development and recreational facilities.  The COLAS operation in Ireland primarily involves the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion manufacturing, chemical manufacturing and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional and local roads network. COLAS in Ireland is an all island cross border business operating from 14 locations.     

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a conscientious and experienced Civil Site Engineer to join our team. The successful Civil Site Engineer will be provided with an excellent salary and company benefits and be responsible for overseeing and supervising multi site based activities on local and regional roads in Ireland, ensuring that all works are carried out in line with the relevant specifications, on time, and within budget.

Main Responsibilities

The Civil Site Engineer will be responsible for the design and recording of site works :

    • Co-ordinating crews, specifically focused on road recycling / resurfacing, to ensure works are completed on time, to budget and in line with stakeholder requirements.
    • Coordinate and manage subcontractor activities, materials ordering and overall program of works.
    • Monitoring and managing productivity and resources to ensure project is cost effective.
    • Ensuring crews (employees/subcontractors) are appropriately recruited, inducted, trained, licensed and competent to operate.
    • Prepare and ensure on going compliance with Site Specific Safety Plans.
    • Complying with company policies and procedures and ensuring all site rules, safety inspections, reviews, prestart meetings, SSWPs and SQE audits are implemented.
    • Customer Liaison.
    • Site Audits.
    • Preparation of site assessments and safety plans.
    • Recording site measures for invoicing.
    • Maintenance of daily record sheets.

Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant industry experience. Preferable in highways/ road pavement / surfacing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to leading a safety focussed culture.
  • Ideally Hold a Managing Safely in Construction Card
  • Full Clean Driving Licence
  • Technical drawing – AutoCad
