As part of the global organisation, Colas Ireland is primarily involved the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion and emulsifier manufacturing, and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional and local road network. In Ireland Colas operates from 14 locations across the island of Ireland.

Mission

The role as Fleet and Transport Manager for Colas Contracting will suit an individual to be accessible to all locations in Ireland and Northern Ireland within responsibilities to multiple facilities.

The position has a wide scope for decision making within the confines of agreed annual plans and budgets.

The role will be responsible for all the company’s commercial vehicles, car, vans, trucks, trailers and specialist vehicles and management of approximately thirty staff.

Main Responsibilities

Budget:

  • Responsible for preparing and planning annual maintenance budget expenditure.
  • Responsible for preparing and presenting Capex plans.
  • An in-depth knowledge of planning OPEX (Operational Expenditure)
  • Optimise fleet and transport cost by keeping capital and expenses costs to a minimum in line with budget to maximise profit for the organisation.
  • To establish standard procedures for potential scenarios or problem.
  • Analyse fleet data and suggest improvement for the analytics of fleet tracking/data
  • Deal with urgent and/or emergency repairs as required.
  • Report to management about fleet progression such as budget, schedule, maintenance and general progress.

Asset Management:

  • Cost analysis. (KPIs)
  • Fleet database.
  • Insurance list.
  • Fleet Compliance.
  • Assign vehicles to drives.

Maintenance:

  • Oversee all fleet maintenance functions, set standards for maintenance activities and ensure maintenance facilities have capability to manage fleet and are safe to use.

Manage the garages to scheduling maintenance to keep fleet in top condition. (Planned, Unplanned and predictive)

 

 

Profile

  • Qualifications:  Certificate in Professional competence in Transport Management. Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor. 
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a fleet & transport management or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of best practice in Fleet management
  • Must be appointed in writing as a Transport Manager]
  • Ideally would have ADR/DGSA.
