Compensation

$80,000 - $110,000 Per Year

Job Summary

The Sales Representative is responsible for sales growth, profitability, and account penetration in an assigned territory/market segment by selling the company’s product/related services. This position will apply the principles of successful highway and civil construction sales/marketing by developing productive working relationships with existing and new customers through in-person visits, presentations, cold calling, and use of web based on-line sources.

Safety

• Participating actively in company safety programs, including safety huddles, one-on-one safety conversations, and reporting of close calls • Fostering the safety culture by making good/safe decisions • Following all safety policies and procedures, including LOTOTO, Motor Vehicle Policy, Drug & Alcohol Policy, etc.

Functional/Technical Skills

Soliciting/securing business opportunities from existing customers • Identifying and researching prospective customers • Screening potential business opportunities/prospects by analyzing market strategies, scope of work, evaluating options, ability to deliver the product and/or service, examining risks and evaluating customer needs and goals to meet or exceed sales objectives • Closing new business by coordinating contract requirements, developing and negotiating contract terms, and successfully integrating contract requirements with company business operations • Maintaining customer quotations, order entry, sales reports, backlogs, collection of accounts receivables and overall customer experience • Coordinating with company construction, production and material distribution operations • Providing customers an understanding of the selection and use of processes, materials, equipment and logistics required by the contract • Establishing pricing for products/services that balances optimal profitability with long-term territory and company needs • Developing sales operating plan to increase core growth with key accounts and key/new customers • Reporting sales results (top-and-bottom-line) to different levels of management • Receiving and quoting orders for customers • Coordinating and scheduling • Ensuring customers get accurate product and pricing based on their bid or request • Entering all orders data necessary for customer • Fielding calls for product issues

Teamwork/ Communication

• Working closely with Engineering, Estimator/Project Manager and Construction Supervision to ensure contract requirements, schedules are maintained according to the contract • Ensuring an open line of communication between Sales, Customer, Quality Control, Superintendents and Dispatchers • Ensuring high level of customer service, building positive relationships with customers

Education and Minimum Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in sales/marketing, related field, or equivalent experience preferred • Minimum of 2-4 years’ progressive experience of specialty construction material/service sales, installation of construction materials and or contracts • Knowledge of negotiation tactics, bid processes, pricing indexes and current costs • Sales experience with construction materials/services and their application/use and specifications preferred • Experience with city, county, state, federal commercial bidding/award procedures • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within the defined sales territory Must possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

Working Conditions And Physical Demands

• Hours during seasons may change based on needs of customers • Ability to sit for extended periods • Out-of-town travel possible w/ trainings/seminars
